Maxim is a graduate of the master's program in Urban Development and Spatial Planning at the Higher School of Economics and holds a degree in history. He chose urban planning as his new profession because he believes that changes in the transportation system can improve the daily lives of millions.

Over seven years in analytics and consulting, he has led projects ranging from early research for Moscow street renovations to strategic transport plans in Almaty, Astana, and Tashkent.
