The “Tankhoy Verst” ecological and historical trail runs along the shore of Lake Baikal, near Tankhoy Station. The approximately 1.07 km route is designed for walking and educational excursions. It provides visitors with the chance to experience the unique nature and history of the Southern Baikal region.
For the opening of the eco-trail, we developed small architectural forms and information materials to guide visitors along the entire route.
The small architectural forms are made from natural and environmentally friendly materials according to a modular principle. The entrance areas at the start and finish of the trail include maps and brief information about the eco-trail.
Information stands reveal the natural features and historical past of Tankhoy. Visitors can learn about life in the village at the beginning of the 20th century, when it became an important strategic point on the Trans-Siberian Railway.
Along the eco-trail, cultural heritage sites are clearly visible: sections of the old, pre-revolutionary railway and the ruins of a railway bridge.
For visitors' convenience, there are rest areas and photo spots along the route where they can admire the scenery and capture impressions.
